One of the smallest (with only 6ha of planted vineyards in Montalcino) yet one of the most important and historical estates in the area - Costanti (alongside Biondi-Santi) was responsible for the foundations of the DOCG of Brunello di Montalcino.
 
Costanti is one of the finest estates in Montalcino, producing very high-quality Brunellos that are elegant, complex and extremely long-lived. Andrea Costanti runs it in collaboration with consultant oenologist Vittorio Fiore. The estate is situated in Colle al Matrieche in the eastern zone of the Montalcino district and the 7 hectares of vineyards are located on a high ridge 400 metres above sea level. At harvest time Costanti employs a rigorous selection process which ensures that only the finest quality fruit is used. 
 
"The Brunello 2018 shows an extrovert bouquet with an array of cloves, cinnamon sticks, drien flowers and spice orange rinds giving way to crushed black cherries. This switches gears on the palate, lifted and refined with cooling acidity and crisp wild berry fruits framed by a core of saline minerals that add a savoury edge. It leaves the palate reeling with zesty tension as the mouth salitaves for more, and a tart cranberry concentration puckers the cheeks".
